There are still a a few Laughing Gulls here and there, especiall= y in Yarmouth County (and I had 5 yesterday, July 20, off Kingsburg Beach, = Lunenburg Co.), also small lingering flocks of Black Skimmers, all in the S= W. I have no reports of Royal Terns after July 12, a week after the storm, = and no more Forster's and other terns after July 13. More information may t= rickle in, but nearly everything had left less than 10 days after the storm= . This was borne out by observations that Dave Currie and I made on Saturda= y (July 19), when we covered as much shoreline as we could in Lunenburg and= eastern Queen's Counties, finding only 4 Laughing Gulls, all in Lunenburg = Co., and nothing else attributable to the storm. I don't think that the recent spate of Black-necked Stilts and a Tricolored= Heron are related to Arthur; they fall nicely into a classic pattern of no= rthward dispersal from the US east coast in mid to late summer that has bee= n noted for years.
