Liz ----- Original Message ----- From: Patrick Kelly To: NatureNS Sent: Friday, July 11, 2014 1:49 PM Subject: [NatureNS] Mystery duck in the NWT Hello everyone: I just got back from a trip out west and despite being mostly in cities, ships and a train, I at least managed to get good looks at one new life bird in Victoria, the chestnut-backed chickadee. I also had great views of a spotted sandpiper that was "patrolling" the edge of a lake near Lutsel K'e, NWT where I was visiting family. I saw a duck I didn't recognise while at the same lake and it was far enough away that I was really unable to get a good picture. Here: http://myweb.dal.ca/pmkelly/Mystery_Duck.jpg is the best of four pictures put together. The ones on the left are "original colour" and the ones on the right are with the colour auto corrected. I have looked in a number of guides, but still can't sort out what it might be. If anyone has an idea, I'd love to hear it!
