We had our first Monarch in our field this evening. Definitely a Monarch but it was flitting so much we could not determine its sex. Hopefully there will be more so we ordered our tagging supplies. There is a lot of milkweed to feed on and it is starting to flower.

While on Monarch Watch's facebook page I discovered the following News Item.

BREAKING NEWS! From The White House: "... the Federal Government will also work to restore the Monarch butterfly migration using research and habitat improvements that will benefit Monarchs as well as other native pollinators and honey bees. These actions support the February 2014 Joint Statement by President Obama, Prime Minister Harper of Canada, and President Peņa Nieto of Mexico to renew and expand collaboration between North American nations to conserve the Monarch butterfly."

I had not heard that.
