Took a walk along the RR bed in Coldbrook this afternoon. Temp was starting=
to rise after the rainstorm but stilll too windy for most flying insects.
- no butterflies but 4-5 T. Swallow tails & 1 Red Admiral at home.
- Blackberry has been in bloom for a week or so & no insects on them up to =
now. Today a fair number of medium-sized Andrena Bees=2C a few Hover Flies =
& a number of smaller flies. Saw several larvae of the Asian Lady Bug=2C th=
ose black & orange larva that vary in pattern & size.
- 22 Painted Turtles hauled out on a couple of boards on the Scotian Gold P=
ond=2C The most by far that I have seen here over many years. So no problem=
with their numbers here. Also a few Bullfrogs snoring.
- This area is usually rich in Catbirds but none so far this year. Has the=
ir absence been noted elsewhere or is it just me?
