Hey James,

You are right to be cautious on this one I believe. During fall migration I
get a lot of these two species on my nocturnal recordings. I was identifying
Solitary by the higher pitch as well. But as time goes on, I'm seeing a lot
of overlap on the frequency of these two species.

John

Subject: [NatureNS] Solitary Sandpiper heard, Miner's Marsh

hi folks,

Of note, Miner's Marsh this morning:

1 Solitary Sandpiper (heard vocalising along the shoreline of the path
between the two ponds). The BirdLog app cautioned me about this one of
course. I also don't see any reports earlier than mid July on naturens or
eBird - I stand to be corrected on this if someone tracks it down and finds
otherwise ( I didn't have time). The only other possibility I can think of
is the alarm call of a Spotted Sandpiper, but the pitch was much higher than
this.

cheers,

James
