Well Fred I agree with you.=0ADave is a source of knowledge like no other i=
n the area.=0AHe has given me good advice on many occasions.=0AI know that =
I do drag a red herring across his path=C2=A0from time to time and that set=
s him baying=C2=A0 - I shall not do that the next time!=0AAs far as dogs, k=
ids and so on unfortunately building a marsh next to Town does create probl=
ems of that kind. I do not have a solution.=0AMy turtle story is many years=
 ago I took out a fellow to=C2=A0a marsh to let him see it. His wife had ju=
st knitted him a beautiful white sweater, all fluffy and as it was a cool S=
ept day it was perfect.=0AWe saw a small turtle and he insisted to take it =
home to show his kids.=C2=A0He held it=C2=A0in his hands as we drove along.=
 Just then I heard him scream STOP - which I did on a little bridge. The tu=
rtle wore up stuck its=C2=A0legs and he=C2=A0was running in place - shreddi=
ng=C2=A0the sweater before we got stopped it urinated over his stomach and =
dyed the sweater a marsh brown. Amazing how much urine in a small turtle.=
=C2=A0We tossed the turtle over the little bridge into the water.=0AWhen we=
 got him home=C2=A0his wife had kind words for him. They were in French so =
thankfully I didn't understand.=C2=A0We didn't make any more trips to the m=
arsh.=0AEnjoy the summer=0APaul =0A=0A=0AOn Tuesday, June 24, 2014 10:23:46=

=0A=0A* it's hard to see this as bullshit - it's one of the fundamental =0A=
problems facing naturalists and nature in these latter days. Both kids =0Aa=

23, 2014=0A>=0A>=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 I have a problem with over zealous reg=
ulation and over zealous=0A> enforcement. If a park operates on a strickly =
'look but don't touch=0A> basis' then protection may be complete but of sho=
rt duration. This=0A> applies especially now when many kids are in love wit=
h the latest=0A> game/technology and bored by anything natural (unless it i=
s packaged in=0A> 30 second clips to be enjoyed in the comfort of a chair a=
t home).=0A>=0A>=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 Or, expressed another way, Pogo and hi=
s friends will over the long=0A> haul be protected by the child who takes a=
 turtle home and thereby=0A> learns to respect the natural world.=0A>=0A>=
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 Miner' s Marsh is subject to severe floods from time t=
o time. And=0A> as more esker segments and other coarse glacial deposits up=
stream are=0A> mined for sand and gravel this flow instability is bound to =
increase. I=0A> suspect that many Miner's Marsh Painted Turtles will be swe=
pt out to sea=0A> whenever we have late floods.=0A>=0A>=C2=A0 John Muir as=
 a boy, when grounded to home base, sometimes amused=0A> himself by throwin=
