Hi All,
It is only in recent years that the name 'Pink Lady's Slipper' has =
crept into usage as a corruption in my view. It is not a suitable for a =
flower that may be pink, white or slightly off white. =20

Better common names include 1) Stemless Lady's Slipper or 2) Common =
Lady's Slipper.=20

Roland & Smith, Flora of Nova Scotia uses #2 only.
Fernald, Gray's Manual of Botany 8th ed. has both and also two =
leaved.
Robinson & Fernald, Gray's New Manual of Botany7th ed. uses #1 only.
   =20
None of these three reliable botany books includes Pink.

Yours truly, Dave Webster, Kentville

Just returned from Shubie Park with my Springers, 'Dash' & 'JJ Jones'. =

Saw oodles of pink Lady's Slipper flowers in bloom throughout the =
wooded areas along the pathways of the off-leash part of the park.
However 2 really caught my attention as they were pure white!=20
Is this a common colour? They were intermingled with other pink ones =
and were the same size.

I was surely surprised to see these! Thank you in advance for any =
thoughts and ideas.

  Sincerely,

  Gayle MacLean
