They can also fly away from inclement weather. But, ordinarily, in good weather with bright lighting, getting therte at or before sunset is a good idea and then being prepared to wait until a half-hour later or longer, sometimes even until you cannot see enough to tell if there are still swifts flying and entering a chimney.
