To add to the mix, last year about this time of year, I saw Chimney Swifts circling a tower/chimney at St. Joseph's School, Kaye Street side. I don't know if it is still there.

Hi, Pat, I live within a five-minute walk of where you mention, and would be happy to have a few evening strolls to check out the location you mention in the next week. Around what time do you figure would be best? .... Will report back if any Chimney Swifts are about.
Brian

Subject: [NatureNS] Chimney in North-End Halifax - Check it out for Chimney Swifts?

While driving around north-end Halifax recently, I noticed a large (4 storeys?), free-standing chimney which I had not been aware of before now.
It is in the centre of the block bounded by Isleville, Bilby, Almon and Gottingen, and wasn't visible until the industrial buildings (welding etc.) at the corner of Isleville and Bilby were torn down. I think this happened last month. New developments are planned for the area.

A few years ago, after seeing some Chimney Swifts flying by day in the north end, I spent several summer evenings watching the old Piercey's Building Supplies chimney, to see if they came from there. I didn't see any, but this is another possible candidate. I'm not usually free in the evenings these days. Would anyone else like to check it out?

Cheers,
