Looking for the nesting Canada Geese in Stella's Pond (D.U. pond) on the Cornwallis River Crossing Rd, west end of New Minas, this afternoon, I found no sign of any of the six geese that had been there in late April, but an unexpected delight was of four C. Nighthawks suddenly appearing overhead hawking insects joining a few swallows doing the same thing. They steadily drifted eastwards, probably to benefit from insects around the New Minas Sewage Ponds. With a few mins to spare this morning I stopped at the entrance of Palmeter's Woods hoping to find a Catbird (no sign) but found a very active mixed-flock of warblers: Am. Redstarts (dominant), Common Yellowthroat, Yellow and Chestnut-sided warblers. Cheers, Judy Tufts >>>>>>>>>> Judy Tufts Wolfville <<<<<<<<<<
