I have been watching the weather and waiting for a nice day to hit there in the morning but this morning I gave up waiting for one and decided to go on a half-scouting, half-birding outing there and even with today's cool, overcast conditions it was great there. I did more birding than anticipated because of hearing so many of them. I ended up with 27 species including 13 warbler species. I'm 90% sure I was hearing a Canada Warbler as well but I couldn't confirm it. I saw and photographed my first Blackpoll. While walking out I came upon a Northern Waterthrush right on the trial. It is quite a spot for warblers. The trick as always is listening,.....quietly. If you really want to score enter the park at sunrise. Hans, can I ask you if you hike up the Rails-to-Trails trail when you go there and if so do you go further than the bog? I have observed 10 warbler species there in a couple of trips but I know I left a few in the trees as well. Thanks. This includes the first Canada Warbler. Another newbie was Alder Flycatcher.
