I just got around to reading this news item on the eBird home page.=20

http://ebird.org/content/canada/news/a-trip-leaders-guide-to-ebird/

I was aware that eBird checklists could be shared between members on =
group outings but not that differences in totals between observers could =
be addressed. I had always resisted sharing lists because I didn't want =
my personal lists to reflect any observations that had been made by =
others but I had missed. Apparently it is just a matter of each user =
changing their own numbers once the list has been shared. The overall =
master list remains the same.=20

Most of the NSBS outings I have been on have included several eBird =
users. This often results in multiple lists for the same sightings, =
sometimes using different personal locations. Obviously sharing lists on =
such outings will provide much better insight into actual population =
numbers.
