In answer to Dusan earlier and Gayle re turkey vultures nesting in Nova = Scotia, this has been suspected for the North Mountain from Bridgetown = west for several ytears, but with no real evidence other than the = regular presence of turkey vultures. Then, reported in Nova Scotia = Birds (NSBS), in the "Summer 2011 issue, Vol. 53, Issue 3, was the = article, "Apparent First Nesting of Turkey Vulture in Nova Scotia" by = Suzanne Borkowski and Ian McLaren. In 2011 a pair of TVs apparently = nested successfully in a 'nest'-site at the shrubby edge of dumped = boulders adjacent to the Lake Major Water Supply (processing?) Plant = somewhere at Lake Major, HRM, north of Cole Harbour. Workers there in = early July reported three young vultures with black heads with the two = adults. The birds were gone when Suzanne & Ian visited the site in mid = and late July; thus all they could do was find and describe the apparent = nest-site. But they concluded that there was enough evidence to make = this the first official nesting record for N.S.=20 Cheers from Jim in Wolfville.
