Index of Subjects --089e0158b8ea612b6904f441eaff Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Hi there, they do migrate/irrupt this way occasionally and it's mostly assumed that they will go north again later in the spring. I imagine some will adapt and hang around longer, and some will go back..they did find their way here afterall :) That being said..if I could find a ride north for them..I'd send them that way :) I still have 3 left which I will be releasing once the weather calms a bit. They were a LOT of work and I'm crossing my fingers they do well on release and can hunt well. Two of the 3 were in good physical condition when they came in..just got injured. One was thin but is quite aggressive with food and I imagine will do just fine on release :) Helene Van Doninck DVM Cobequid Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre RR#1 Brookfield NS B0N1C0 902-893-0253 birdvet@hotmail.com www.cwrc.net Find us on Facebook<https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cobequid-Wildlife-Rehabilitation-Centre/134671693239334> and Twitter <https://twitter.com/CobequiWildlife> On Mon, Mar 10, 2014 at 11:30 AM, Shouty McShoutsalot < desolatechair@gmail.com> wrote: > My understanding is that there are surviving overwintered Snowy Owls in NS > from the irruption of Dec 2013; that these birds are not migratory in the > normal sense; that an irruption is not a predictable, repeatable migratory > event; and that, having survived a winter that I believe was fatal to a > higher than normal percentage of our resident bird predators, the surviving > Snowys have proven adaptive and survival skills in NS. > > So I'm wondering what becomes of these birds.
