Today I saw an adult hawk, possibly a Cooper's, trying to catch a female Pileated W.P. It seemed to me to be about the same size as the woodpecker, and had a noticeable black cap. I tried to see the tail, but it was a bit too far away for me to be certain about that. Lois Codling L. Sackville
