I saw a Snowy Owl sitting on a post at the mouth of the River Philip in
Cumb co. It was perched on a post at the end of the old bridge approach.
The resident eagle is the usual occupier of this post but he must be
away. There wasn't any squabbling. The Snowy was looking around, it had
a nice white head and speckles on the lower body. I didn't have my
camera and I was using old binoculars - the new ones are recovering from
an encounter with Air Canada. I will keep watching and try for some
pictures for more details.
