We found one of the two rare geese today in the flooded quarry on Farnham Mill Rd., Onslow. We saw the Barnacle Goose when we first arrived at the quarry, and then spent 1 1/2 hrs checking over the 2000-3000 Canada Geese, but couldn't find the Pink-footed Goose. The Canadas were coming and going in large and small flocks, but our impression was that a lot of them were leaving and heading SW. There is ice forming on the quarry, and the wind was bitter. Many thanks to Harold Connolly, who lives in the area and who scouted out the cornfields before we arrived, so we knew the geese were not there, but at the quarry. Lois Codling
