We felt the morning birding was pretty productive = with 2 Pine Warblers, 1 Nashville Warbler, 1 Orange-crowned Warbler, 2 = Rusty Blackbirds, 2 Purple Finch and 1 Swamp Sparrow along Queen Street. = A second Swampie was along a trail opposite the war monument. A large number of Northern Gannets (>500) were NE of Durells I. There = were a few Cormorants in the harbour, 2-3 seen closely were = Double-crested but a few other cormorants perched on harbour structures = were hunched and hard to ID. There were a handful of Black Guillemots, = and Iceland Gulls in the harbour. No small gulls were observed.=20 At Glasgow Head, a flock of mixed birds, with Juncos, GC Kinglets, = Goldfinches and mixed chickadees, contained at least 2 more Pine = Warbler, one bright and 1 dull as well as another Orange-crowned = Warbler.=20 We noted a number of sparrow species at Chapel Gully trail and only 2 = American Robins despite a wealth of red berry food available.=20 The seven sparrow species noted were all common species, but included 1 = Chipping Sparrow. We failed to find Grasshopper Sparrow at the Marina = although we later met and chatted with Tom K. and he said he detected = 1-2 there a couple weeks ago as well as Dickcissel which we also failed = to detect. We rechecked the very windy and cold Marina area again with no = luck other than doubling the Savannah Sparrow total of our first visit. = I suspect we were missing a number of birds through town as we did not = see any House Sparrows or Blue Jays. We did see 17 "Myrtle" Warblers = which were wide-spread about the town.=20 A late afternoon visit to Little Dover gave 12 species with nothing = note-worthy although we saw a flock of a dozen Robins.=20 cheers Ken ------=_NextPart_000_0037_01CEF4CF.42F4A520 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content=3D"text/html; charset=3Diso-8859-1" = http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META name=3DGENERATOR content=3D"MSHTML 8.00.6001.23536"> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial>Ken McKenna<BR>Box 218 Stellarton = NS<BR>B0K=20 1S0<BR>902 752-7644<BR></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial>Hi all</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial>Charlie Kendell and I made a birding = trip to Canso=20 on a cool and very windy Sunday, Dec 8.
