--Apple-Mail-3-207474686 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii All, Just a heads up for those of you who met Fred Schueler and Aleta Karstad = during their "Thirty Years Later Expedition" survey trip to Nova Scotia = and New Brunswick in 2010. In addition to conducting survey work in = Nova Scotia (some of it during and after Hurricane Earl), Fred gave a = guest lecture at the NS Museum of Natural History, and Aleta gave an = outdoors nature painting workshop. They also presented a poster paper = at the annual meeting of the Canadian Amphibian and Reptile Conservation = Network held in Wolfville that year, and surveyed terrestrial snails, = slugs and freshwater mussels at Kejimkujik. A summary of their visit = appears on their website: http://fragileinheritance.org/home/whatsnew.htm Anyhow, they have just completed a calendar which features images and = accompanying notes taken during recent field work in many locations. = Also Fred's essay on the philosophy and necessity of natural history = observations - recording, keeping, and using them. The theme is on = Fred's data collection and field note input - much of which has been = done in the field and recorded in meticulous detail for well over thirty = years. As I have had the pleasure of doing fieldwork with Fred an = Aleta on a number of occasions, the images are a great reminder of those = surveys. I expect that others who have met or worked with them might = also enjoy reading Aleta's blog post about the calendar project. =20 = http://karstaddailypaintings.blogspot.com/2013/12/the-fred-calendar-for-20= 14.html#more regards,=20 bev wigney (Round Hill, NS, in summer) --Apple-Mail-3-207474686 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Type: text/html; charset=us-ascii <html><head></head><body style=3D"word-wrap: break-word; = -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space; = ">All,<div><br></div><div>Just a heads up for those of you who met Fred = Schueler and Aleta Karstad during their "Thirty Years Later Expedition" = survey trip to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick in 2010.
