This year Great Blue Herons here (Corkums Island, Lun Co) seem to find the tops of live Spruce trees a popular perching spot, a change from previous years. A Bald Eagle flew over to one this afternoon, hovered above it until it flew off croaking and then settled down on the usurped perch. To my eyes the Heron did not seem frightened nor the Eagle especially predatory. Seemed more like the Eagle filling the role of the classic bully, taking over a resting place for no other reason than it could. Nancy
