I wonder if anyone else has noted in other areas what I like to call the
Loon early warning system. We have several loons in the cove most of the
time and they are noisy early in the morning when they commute between the
lakes and the salt water.
The other time is when a Bald Eagle decides to visit the cove which is on
most days.
The first Loon to see it come over the tree line starts calling and then
for a couple of minutes every Loon in the cove starts calling.
I have never seen an Eagle take a loon although they are partial to the
resident Black Ducks in the winter.
