This flashy Blue Mud Dauber (Chalybion spp) was in my house taking lazy short flights. I took it outside for some pictures: http://www.flickr.com/photos/92981528@N08/9643078179/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/92981528@N08/9643076789/ Like the black and yellow Mud Daubers building a nest on Eleanor Lindsay's house, the Blue Mud Daubers provision their nests with spiders- Black and Brown Widows in their case. But instead of building their own nests they use those of other Mud Daubers. The info I've read in books and online is a bit vague but I believe they use abandoned nests rather than taking over an active one. Someone might be able to clarify this. Nancy
