Hi all=20
Yesterday morning, Aug 26, I birded Big I. With a little searching, I =
came up with 67 species, nothing too out of the ordinary, although =
Yellow-bellied and Least Flycatchers along the Docker Rd. were not =
present in earlier visits and I also noted a soaring imm. Broad-winged =
Hawk with a Sharpie that may have been the one Ann Doull had seen last =
week. I noted 12 species of shorebird and 8 species of warbler. A Boreal =
Chickadee was seen along a trail on the NW end of the island ( not seen =
on most visits). An imm. Great Cormorant has been along the Strait side =
of the causeway last 2 visits.=20
Shorebirds seen are noted below but view complete checklist online at =
http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=3DS15024933=20

Although I was looking for birds, I could not help to note there were =
quite a few butterflies about despite a slow period of looking for these =
Leps the last 2 weeks.=20
There were hundreds of Clouded Sulphurs, dozens of Cabbage Whites, maybe =
a dozen Northern Crescents and Common Wood Nymphs and a single Common =
Ringlet .=20
Along a power line on the Lamont Rd., I noted 4 Viceroy, ~ 6 Clouded =
Sulphurs, a single Ringlet and a worn large Fritillary. Cabbage Whites =
were abundant along this road.=20

cheers
Ken
