On August 9th, Kate Steele and I spotted a banded Semipalmated Sandpiper at Conrad's Beach. We were able to read the flag tag and submit the
information to www.bandedbirds.org. With a little help from Julie Paquet of the Canadian Wildlife Service
we found out that this bird was banded on January 31 of this year in
Brazil. The distances these birds travel in the run of a year never ceases to
amaze me. Anyway, just a reminder to keep an eye out for these birds and submit the information if you are able to see it!
