I thought last night's westerlies might bring in shorebirds, and indeed there were lots on the mudflats at McCormacks Bch, E. Passage - Bernice and I counted ca. 190 SEMI-PLOVERS, seven GR. YELLOWLEGS, and a few turnstones and peeps. As usual, lots (maybe 40) adult RING-BILLED GULLS. Thought Rainbow Haven Bch, along the loop n.e. of the beachhouse, might be equally productive, but it wasn't. At the extremely low tide, they may have been out on distant flats of Cole Hbr. Nice to see the Sea-Lavender (Limonium) in flower also a number of other dune and saltmarsh plants. Of interest was a beached, somewhat decomposed Gray Triggerfish, Balistes capriscus. They've been regular here with warming waters in recent decades, and I've seen a couple of stranded ones before in mid- to late summer. Cheers, Ian Ian McLaren
