There are lots of Cicadas buzzing in the trees now (E Dalhousie, Kings Co) as always at this time of year. But this is the first time I have found a castoff nymphal skin. This one was on the foundation 15cm above ground. Original position: http://www.flickr.com/photos/92981528@N08/9470126087/ Flipped over: http://www.flickr.com/photos/92981528@N08/9472914956/ You can see how immature Cicadas are well adapted for their underground life burrowing in soil: http://www.flickr.com/photos/92981528@N08/9470128793/ A post this Spring indicated there were only a few (3?) spp of Cicada known in NS. Could anyone suggest a partial/probable ID based on this moulted skin? Nancy Sent from my iPhone
