Here, on the Wyman Road south of Yarmouth, the male rubythroats are still
tacking the feeders adhering to the kitchen window on the north side of the
house.  In contrast to earlier years, though, females and young have been
virtually absent, and the males are hanging around longer.

 

But now, the Montebrecias are blooming on the south side of the house, and
the white-throated rubythroats are out in full force.  

 

No year is typical, but the gender roles this year are a little new!
