In addition to the report below, there is a family of Boreal Chickadees,
with adults carrying food and giving alarm calls, outside my cabin here on
Brier.

Brier Island--Pond Bay, Digby, CA-NS
Aug 3, 2013 11:45 AM - 12:15 PM
Protocol: Traveling
1.0 kilometer(s)
1 species

Laughing Gull 1 A gull about half the size of the nearby Herring and
GBB gulls. Seen through fog, flying, landed on the wet sand that used to be
Big Pond, then took off and disappeared. Too foggy and distant for a photo.
Dark Gray mantle and back. Black primaries, but not suure about any white
mirrors. Mostly black head, with white nearer the nape. White close to the
eye (? Eye semicircles), long dark red slightly drooping bill. Leg color
not seen. No vocalization. Seen with 10x40 binocs. Clearly a Laughing gull,
but not a full breeding plumages adult - suspect an adult in partial molt.
