Dear All, July 31, 2013 So far this summer I have hauled 12 tiers of firewood and today, for the first time, found shed snake skins (3 skins of grades size in one tier so likely one snake; wood piled Oct 6, 2012 so skins would have been shed in 2013). Most tiers have an abandoned mouse nest but no active nests yet. In better snake days there were shed skins in nearly every pile. Neither snakes nor mice have fully recovered since the winter ice formed at the soil surface under snow (2008-2009 ?). Yt, Dave Webster, Kentville
