Hi All=2C
=20
On June 8=2C 2007 a male Hairy Woodpecker was banded at my house by a r=
esearcher studying the species. It continued to return to my feeders until =
the 2011 breeding season when I last observed the bird in an altercation wi=
th another male Hairy Woodpecker. It then disappeared=3B until 10 days ago =
when it reappeared at my suet feeder with two new fledges.=20
I was able to get some video of the band and with some effort identify=
most of the numbers on the band. I sent this info to the original bander a=
nd she agrees it is the same bird. When the bird was banded we didn't know =
it's age but now we know it is=2C at least=2C six years old and has lived i=
n in this area virtually all that time. Not earthshattering information but=
interesting none the less. All the best. Fritz McE=
voy=2C Sunrise Valley CB (near Dingwall)
