I'm reminded of some of the reasons offered for referring to ships as
"she" which may be appropriate in this case.
They is usually a gang of men around her. The initial cost is far exceeded
by the upkeep.
The support of the rigging far exceeds that of the equipment and uses lots
of paint. And she changes her mind every time the wind changes. ( with
apologies to the ladies)

I was curious as to why the wind turbines at West Pubnico all had female
names on the doors. A friend of mine threw these thoughts out to me in
response to my comment about this on facebook.

I wonder why all female names...the feminine has always been a symbol of
renewal through creating life in multi cultures..I wonder if the names used
that as a reference to parallel the renewal of the earth, the "birth" as it
were of a new way of seeking energy through green energy via the
wind...just my thoughts on it.

I'd be interested in any other thoughts on this topic or is the above the
actual reason for the female names, which would make perfect sense.
