All: In addition to photographing the stilt (see NS-RBA photos), I attempted to estimate numbers of shorebirds in the saltmarsh behind Silver Sands Bch at Cow Bay. Guesstimates were: 16 angry adult Willets (tried actual count, maybe low) 140 Lesser Yellowlegs 8 Greater Yellowlegs 70 Sht-billed Dowitchers (perhaps 15 of them ss hendersoni) 13 Least Sandpipers The saltmarsh is barely accessible now because of greater inundation between the beach and the marsh at high tide. Interesting to see what appeared to be tiny shoots of dune grass (not Spartina) poking through some salty mudflats. A futile attempt, I'm afraid. Ian McLaren
