This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --Boundary_(ID_KYnQuax3yhOK8odRMwSlhg) Content-type: text/plain; CHARSET=US-ASCII; format=flowed Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT My thanks to all who responded so promptly, and all with the same answer - which has taught me a most valuable lesson. 'My' bird is indeed a northern parula, but in my defence I have to emphasise that based on my one brief glimpse, this was one of the first birds I checked outonline. The Cornell recording I played at that time was NOT what I was hearing; it was similar, but what I call the 'chuurr' part was a much more gentle, rhythmic and melodic sound than I was hearing - so I promptly dismissed that possibility without looking further. But all your responses made me go back and check out a number of other sites, including other recordings on Cornelland what I found is not one, but three variations of the northern parula's song - both on Cornell, 'my' version also on BirdJam, Boreal Birds and Larkwire and one other 'Alternative Song' on YouTube. I stopped looking after that.... So thank you allfor leaving me sadder but wiser about searching!
