Early Wednesday morning there was a Luna Moth (Actias luna) on the veranda
(wingspan 110mm!): http://www.flickr.com/photos/92981528@N08/9159167928/

Here is a mug shot taken at the same time:

The following morning it was on the door of the truck where it spent the
day:

Even their eggs are showy. A half-eaten one on the ground last summer was
bursting with bright blue eggs. But I see no reference to this egg color
online so perhaps it was a product of decay.
