Index of Subjects The Blomidon Naturalists calendar has a note that on this date in 1979 Eva Urban of Hantsport found the first Mourning Dove nest to be reported in Nova Scotia. It reminded me that I've been meaning to write in for the past week about a Mourning Dove nest at my parents' home in Bedford. Last Saturday (8 June) I noticed that an old Robin's nest in the tangle of vines beside the solarium had an occupant. The soft greys and browns of her feathers blended in perfectly with the muted colours of the thick Wisteria vines and the bleached twigs of the old nest. This is a good thing, because the nest is very exposed; a large part of the Wisteria died back last summer and there is no foliage screening her. The nest is just about 6 feet up. She sits tight on the nest, and doesn't budge even when my brother uses the garden tap, only a few feet away. Very different behaviour from the Robins, who were always flighty and easily alarmed; in fact I think they abandoned that nest last year. Patricia L.Chalmers Halifax
