Had ~25 clumps each of 1-4 heads each of this pretty orchid, hitherto
unfamiliar, pointed out in a failed 'fly visit' to Mt Uniacke Estate,
also on Sunday afternoon. Haven't seen it listed at that location
before, but assumed that it is so relatively common as not to be worth
reporting: on-line it's described as by far the most common of 4 NS
orchids, and not placed in any of the endangered categories.
Interesting restrictive developmental requirements.
Steve, Halifax

Quoting David Patriquin <patriqui@dal.ca>:
> I counted 139 Pink Lady's Slipper in flower visible from main path
> on the east side of the tracks in oak woods at the south end of
> Beaufort on June 2, 90 on the west side today (June 4). For the east
> side, I counted 39 in 2012, 58 in 2011, and >100 in several previous
> years.
