Hi All Yesterday was a great day for the Keji Loon Count. Perfect weather, manageable black flies and Kelly to help paddle. Loon counts don't get any better! Donna had things organized to perfection - not a detail overlooked. Eric the new Park Superintent was on hand also. Great to see the chief park man out talking to visitors. Good things will result. We had a pair of loons on our lake and they had a nest with just one eggs. The nest looked like it was in the process of construction. Maybe there will be another egg soon. Tiger Swallowtail Butterflies were very plentiful as well as an Dragon Flies - species I'm not sure. There was also a small butterfly dark wings with a lot of spots in the wing again species unknown. The warm weather must have gotten them out. We also saw a couple of broods of ducklings 7 - 8 blacks in one and about 15 Common Mergansers in the other. Both with females. Nothing makes it seem like the wilderness better than a Merg with a big brood only a few days old. Thanks again to Donna and Eric for hosting such a great day! Enjoy the heat Paul
