--001a11c1bc04742ffc04de2a7e73 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 hi folks, Birding in the Kentville Ravine, morning of *31 May (5:30 am - 8:30 am)*: Found four *nests *opportunistically (wasn't searching for them): 2 *American Robin* (one with three eggs, one with female still building) 1 *Hairy Woodpecker Cavity* with both parents feeding very noisy nestlings 1 *Golden-crowned Kinglet* with both parents feeding chicks. This is the first GCKI nest I've ever seen. Very well hidden at the end of a Spruce bough ~12 m high. *Eagle nest check:* we saw a parent keeping close watch and giving alarm calls, and *one ** nestling*.* *I'm not experienced with aging them but the plumage appeared to be nearing dark-brown and losing the fuzzy nestling look. Possible there is still another in there. *Point Counts*: - new species since last round (17 May): *Eastern Wood Pewee* *Ring-necked Pheasant* *Red-eyed Vireo* *Ruby-throated Hummingbird* *Cedar Waxwing* *Brown-headed Cowbird* *Chestnut-sided Warbler* There is a Beaver dam forming in the lower wetland and there is some Japanese Knotweed here too. cheers, James. -- James Churchill Kentville, Nova Scotia jameslchurchill@gmail.com (902) 681-2374 --001a11c1bc04742ffc04de2a7e73 Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <div dir=3D"ltr"><div class=3D"gmail_quote"><br><div dir=3D"ltr">hi folks,= =A0<div><br></div><div>Birding in the Kentville Ravine, morning of <b>31 Ma= y (5:30 am - 8:30 am)</b>:</div> <div><br></div><div>Found four <b>nests </b>opportunistically (wasn't s= earching for them):</div><div>2 <b>American Robin</b> (one with three eggs,= one with female still building)</div><div> 1 <b>Hairy Woodpecker Cavity</b> with both parents feeding very noisy nestl= ings=A0</div><div>1 <b>Golden-crowned Kinglet</b> with both parents feeding= chicks.
