Driving the back roads everyday to and from work I often get to see some un=
usual wildlife occurances. Usually they happen to fast to appreciate or cap=
ture on camera as it is usually over before the car can be stopped but the =
drive home was different.=0A=A0=0APheasants, grouse, woodcock, eagles on th=
e road are relatively common but from a distance I new the pose was differe=
nt and immediately thought Bittern. Yes! I pulled upto to 10 feet of an Ame=
rican bittern sitting on the shoulder of Georgefield Rd which kept his beak=
straight up as they normally do in the reeds. I was able to dig out the ce=
ll phone, and snap a few pictures thru the window (to bad no zoom on cell p=
hones as the pictures are nothing exciting except for the location) He sat =
there for a few minutes and only when I tried to get a picture throught the=
passenger window did he fly off. GB Heron also took off when I arrived fro=
