The 18 observers tonight were mostly members of the Young = Naturalists of Pictou county and parents. I gave a 20 min. presentation = on life history of Chimney Swifts which was abruptly halted when the = first two swifts entered a bit earlier than previous nights at 8:39. A = large group of about half the birds entered at 8:46 shortly followed by = another 20% within the next minute. There seemed to be a little chimney = confusion over the next minute as a dozen or so exited the chimney. = Last bird to enter was at 9:05 and I left at 9:07. My total for the = night was 530 Swifts. Great to have lots of observers out on a cool = evening.=20 cheers Ken ------=_NextPart_000_0082_01CE5A62.3A265A90 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content=3D"text/html; charset=3Diso-8859-1" = http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META name=3DGENERATOR content=3D"MSHTML 8.00.6001.23487"> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial>Ken McKenna<BR>Box 218 Stellarton = NS<BR>B0K=20 1S0<BR>902 752-7644<BR></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial>Hi all</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial>The second night of Swiftwatch 2013 was = a little=20 chilly at Temperance St. tonight (May 26) with a temperature of 11C = combined=20 with 100% overcast sky and moderately strong winds of 40Km/h = causing the=20 group gathered to huddle together as no doubt the swifts will be tonight = in the=20 chimney.
