Dan and Joan Panting report 1 White-crowned Sparrow at their feeder in 
Central Caribou today May 14 as well.
Mark Brennan discovered a Gray Jay  nest with young  Mon May 13 in 
Whitehill.
Temperance St. school May 13 158 Chimney Swifts - most entering at 8:44, but 
first one at 8:38 and last group of 3 at 8:48.
Liz Doull recorded 86 Swifts there May 11 on count day
Rick Ferguson had Red-bellied Woodpecker and a Tree Sparrow at his Westville 
feeder  on count day and several feeders still have redpolls.


My West Pictou route on the Migration ct. on Sat May 11-
88 species. highlights
Virginia Rail  4:30 am heard with Sora and Bittern from  wetland off TCH 106 
between Caribou Ferry terminal and Pictou rotary.
6 Barred Owls calling
11 American Bitterns!!
36 Woodcock  mostly predawn as there were only a few at dusk as rain made it 
hard to keep the car window open!
3 Bonaparte's Gulls ( full hoods) Caribou ferry terminal
12 Iceland Gulls ( Caribou I. light area, Logan's fish plant- Caribou
4 Least Flycatchers  2 Mt. Thom  area 2 Tony River area
5 Eastern Phoebe
13 Greater Scaup West River - Lyons Brook
7 Common Goldeneye West River - Lyons Brook
14 Black Scoter    West River - Lyons Brook a little unusual at this 
location
55 Blue-headed Vireo
44 Ruby-crowned Kinglet
30 Nashville Warbler
20 Parula
1 Yellow
1 Magnolia
81 Myrtle
15 Black-throated green
3 Blackburnian
5 Palm
21 Black and White
4 Ovenbird
23 Northern Waterthrush
It was a pretty good day for counting- a little foggy along the coast but 
moved inland till the sun burned off the fog  Rain did not start till 7:30 
or so but the last few hours of birding were quite slow . The predawn was 
perfect - no wind and loads of birds singing and calling.
Noticed lots of Trout Lily in Mt Thom area , Hobblebush and Leather leaf, 
and Service Berry all in bloom.
