In 2013, SwiftWatch participants will count Chimney Swifts at roost sites d= uring spring migration on the following dates: May 22, May 26, May 30, and = June 3. These counts are part of a national monitoring effort across Canada= to identify Chimney Swift population trends. Counters are still needed at = the Mabou, Cape Breton roost site so please let us know if you will be in t= he area and available to visit the roost on those dates. We are asking Nova Scotians to continue searching for and reporting active = nest and roost sites in both anthropogenic sites (e.g. chimneys) and natura= l areas. To share a Chimney Swift sighting, report a new roost or nest site= , or help monitor an existing site, please contact us (marswifts@birdscanad= a.org<mailto:marswifts@birdscanada.org> ; 1-506-364-5196) or consider shari= ng your sightings and roost counts on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/M= aritimes.Swifts<http://www.facebook.com/Maritimes.Swifts>; omit specific ad= dress information if posting here), on NatureCounts (http://www.birdscanada= .org/birdmon/mar_swift/) or via eBird. We also invite you to "like" us and = post your stories, photos, videos and questions on our Facebook page. To learn more about Maritimes SwiftWatch, read our 2012/13 newsletter and d= ownload instructions, data sheets and other resources, visit the SwiftWatch= website at http://www.birdscanada.org/volunteer/acswifts/.
