I found out today that the Merlin I heard the other day around Acadia Univ
is part of a pair nesting in a very tall rather skinny fir (?) behind the
Alumni building (on north side of Main Street opposite Univ. Hall), tree is
close to the edge of the ATF parking lot. The nest is near the top. The
male has taken to keeping guard and calling "kee-kee-kee" from a large
leafless tree between the Alumni bldg and the Raymond Field track. A
friend of mine who has been in the Alumni bldg parking lot several times
recently waiting to pick up her husband there says the pair have been active
around this nest for at least a couple of weeks, including switching
nesting duties. Suspect this means eggs are being cared for.

Cheers,

Judy Tufts
