I have personally experienced eagles answering a = Native eagle song on the drums. The eagles circled during the song and = then flew upwards out of sight, when the drumming finished. You know so = much more than I do about these birds. Do they have hearing or some = other sense that is way beyond what we experience? As = far as I know 2 eagles have never been found dead locked together :)=20 We did get a call one night from people in Pugwash who found an eagle = collapsed on the beach unconscious, the kids almost walked on her. We = drove up to get her and she was totally out of it with no obvious = injuries. I did a quick exam on the beach and she was in EXCELLENT flesh = and even had a full crop of food, meaning she had eaten likely moments = before whatever caused this collapse happened. I was worried she would = inhale her crop contents and aspirate her food into her lungs so we took = her to a vet clinic in truro where we anesthetized her and emptied out = her crop...it was FULL of fish guts. The only thing I could find wrong = on her ( I tested her for lead etc) was several puncture wounds on her = feet and a gash over her beak. We'll never know what happened to her but = I'm thinking she crash landed after one of those spiral locked displays = and the punctures on her feet were from another eagle. Happy ending = though..we released her about 10 days later and within 3 min of release = she was joined by another adult eagle and they took off together.=20 If any of you are on facebook, here's a link to the pics of that bird :) = https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=3Da.375054129201088.87973.1346716= 93239334&type=3D1 Helene Helene Van Doninck DVM Cobequid Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre RR#1 Brookfield NS B0N1C0 902-893-0253 birdvet@hotmail.com www.cwrc.net Please check our fundraising campaign on Indiegogo.
