Hi all
I saw my first spring Pictou Co. Double-crested Cormorants late =
yesterday afternoon, Mar 31. There was one on the pier at the Pictou =
Causeway and 3 on the Pictou waterfront north of Pier C. Seems later =
than usual, but the winds have been north for quite some time.Maybe =
others saw them earlier than this. Pier C still had a few 3-4 Iceland =
Gulls and was a great spot for close-up shots of Red-breasted Mergansers =
from the car window as they dove for fish along the wharf. There were =
100+ Robins in open areas on Pictou lawns yesterday. There were 12 =
Green-winged Teal (Am.) at NSPC Trenton outflow.=20
Had a note from Chris Morrison who had a fem. Red-bellied Woodpecker at =
his Alma feeder yesterday.=20
There were a couple of other RBWO in the county this winter incl. 1 seen =
off and on including last week at the Ferguson feeder in Westville and =
another near the old Jr. High School in New Glasgow.=20
cheers
Ken
