Here is some wonderful news from the Kingsburg Coastal Conservancy: _________________________________________________________________________= ______________________ A partnership between the NDP government and the Kingsburg Coastal = Conservancy (KCC) will ensure that West Ironbound Island will be = protected for generations to come. MLAs for the area Pam Birdsall and Gary Ramey announced the acquisition = of the southern half of West Ironbound Island today, March 28, at a = gathering in Riverport, Lunenburg County. "It has been so rewarding to work with the members of the KCC on this = project," said Birdsall. "Making this announcement together is a very = proud moment for me as MLA and as a resident of Lunenburg County." The negotiated price for the parcel of land is $387,500, less than the = appraised market value. The Department of Natural Resources will = contribute $200,000 and with the help of local support and donations the = KCC will contribute the remaining $187,500. "This announcement is about more than land," added Ramey. "It's about = the culmination of working together to preserve part of our province for = the future." In 2010, the northern half of West Ironbound Island was acquired by the = KCC. Led by its Board of Directors, the KCC will manage all of the land = through a stewardship agreement with the province. "This purchase and stewardship agreement will ensure the protection of = the land, its species and coastal beauty for all Nova Scotians," said = Robert Buckley, Chair of the KCC. "Our many volunteers look forward to = working with the Department of Natural Resources to keep the land = vibrant and strong." West Ironbound Island is located 20 kilometers south of Lunenburg. Cheers, Bob McDonald Halifax ------=_NextPart_000_006D_01CE2C08.79B9BFE0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content=3D"text/html; charset=3Diso-8859-1" = http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META name=3DGENERATOR content=3D"MSHTML 8.00.6001.19403"> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial><SPAN style=3D"FONT-SIZE: 12px"><SPAN=20 style=3D"FONT-FAMILY: 'lucida sans unicode', 'lucida grande', = sans-serif">Always=20 great to get some good news regarding land=20 protection.</SPAN></SPAN></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial><SPAN style=3D"FONT-SIZE: 12px"><SPAN=20 style=3D"FONT-FAMILY: 'lucida sans unicode', 'lucida grande', = sans-serif"></SPAN></SPAN></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial><SPAN style=3D"FONT-SIZE: 12px"><SPAN=20 style=3D"FONT-FAMILY: 'lucida sans unicode', 'lucida grande', = sans-serif">Here is=20 some wonderful news from the Kingsburg Coastal=20 Conservancy:</SPAN></SPAN></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial><SPAN style=3D"FONT-SIZE: 12px"><SPAN=20 style=3D"FONT-FAMILY: 'lucida sans unicode', 'lucida grande', = sans-serif"></SPAN></SPAN></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial><SPAN style=3D"FONT-SIZE: 12px"><SPAN=20 style=3D"FONT-FAMILY: 'lucida sans unicode', 'lucida grande', = sans-serif">_____________________________________________________________= __________________________________</SPAN></SPAN></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial><SPAN style=3D"FONT-SIZE: 12px"><SPAN=20 style=3D"FONT-FAMILY: 'lucida sans unicode', 'lucida grande', = sans-serif"></SPAN></SPAN></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial><SPAN style=3D"FONT-SIZE: 12px"><SPAN=20 style=3D"FONT-FAMILY: 'lucida sans unicode', 'lucida grande', = sans-serif">A=20 partnership between the NDP government and the Kingsburg Coastal = Conservancy=20 (KCC) will ensure that West Ironbound Island will be protected for = generations=20 to come.<BR><BR>MLAs for the area Pam Birdsall and Gary Ramey announced = the=20 acquisition of the southern half of West Ironbound Island today, March = 28, at a=20 gathering in Riverport, Lunenburg County.<BR><BR>=93It has been so = rewarding to=20 work with the members of the KCC on this project,=94 said Birdsall. = =93Making this=20 announcement together is a very proud moment for me as MLA and as a = resident of=20 Lunenburg County.=94<BR><BR>The negotiated price for the parcel of land = is=20 $387,500, less than the appraised market value.
