Couldn't tell the sex.In town a Pheasant Rooster was running down Main= Street. It was lucky there were no cops around or it would have had a speed= ing ticket. It was coming from near the NSLC store - maybe it made a purchas= e!Enjoy the nice weatherPaul --- On Fri, 2/15/13, duartess@ns.sympatico.ca <duartess@ns.sympatico.ca> wr= ote: From: duartess@ns.sympatico.ca <duartess@ns.sympatico.ca> Subject: [NatureNS] Barred Owl & Other Observations To: "Naturelist" <naturens@chebucto.ns.ca> Received: Friday, February 15, 2013, 5:31 AM As of late yesterday afternoon (dusk), the Barred Owl that has been seen in= Dartmouth is still present. Generally it has been seen on James St. but al= so on Johnson's Avenue and last evening, was reported seen at the top of my= street, Glenwood Ave. It has only been seen in late afternoon, that I am a= ware of anyway. My husband & I took a trip down to Bridgetown (Granville Ferry) yesterday. = Great day for a drive and a beautiful day.=20 We saw numerous Red-tailed Hawks, fewer Bald Eagles, both Mature and immatu= re and saw some kind of a hawk that didn't look like a Red-tailed, soaring = above. Unfortunately we also saw a Red-tailed Hawk that was dead on the hig= hway, obviously hit by a car. And also while visiting in Granville Ferry we saw a male Pileated Woodpecke= r in a big oak tree by their house. Cheers to all!!
