Chez nous, on the Wyman road, south of Yarmouth, a flock of blackbirds
descended about 4:45 P:M. and hungrily (but very skittishly) tackled the
feed on the ground under the bushes, about ten feet north of the house.
Partially cloudy weather.

The birds were the right size for redwings, heavily streaked with light
stripes over the eve. Some had pale shoulder stripes, and a light streak
either side of the back was also evident on many of them. No red epaulettes
evident, but I'm not sure if male redwings have a different winter plumage
or not. They looked like good ringers for young and female redwings.

How many? Couldn't get a good count, but I'd say forty or fifty.

Oh, driving into town three or four days ago, I'm pretty sure a bluebird
flew across my path, about 300 meters down the road (by the ex -Olive Wood
house). Right size and definitely bluebird blue dorsally. (So what else is
new down here, eh?)
