On Friday, January 18 the moon went into it First Quarter Phase meaning =
we it will rise at noon and set at midnight=20



Week by week, watch the Big Dipper rearing higher up in the northeast as =
we leave more of winter behind us.=20



Around 11 p.m. this week, brilliant Sirius is at its highest due south. =
Sirius is the brightest star in the night sky.=20



On Saturday January 26, the moon will go into its Full Phase meaning we =
will see it all night. Expect higher high tides and lower low tides. =
This moon is sometimes referred to as the Wolf Moon.



 On Saturday, January19, the sun rose at 7:56 am and will set at 5:12 =
pm. On Saturday, January 26, the sun will rise at 7:50 am and set at =
5:22 pm.







This Week's Planet Roundup=20

Mercury is hidden in the glare of the Sun.=20

Venus (magnitude =E2=80=933.9) is just above the southeast horizon about =
30 minutes before sunrise.=20

Mars (magnitude +1.2) continues to glimmer very low in the =
west-southwest in the fading glow of sunset.=20



Jupiter (magnitude =E2=80=932.6) is the first "star" to come out high in =
the southeast after sundown. It dominates the high south after sunset, =
with orange Aldebaran lower left of it.=20

Saturn (magnitude +0.6) rises in the east-southeast around 2 am. By the =
beginning of dawn it's fairly high in the south.=20
