Linda and I saw a bat flying along the shore of Lake William in Waverley today. The weather was sunny, air temperature about -2 deg. We aren't aware of any hibernacula in the vicinity. To my eyes it looked bigger than a Little Brown Bat, but as is well-known, size is very deceptive, so I wouldn't put too much weight on that opinion. It's probably doomed, poor little guy. There certainly didn't seem to be any insects on the wing. Peter Payzant
